About this file
This is a U.S. Coast Guard Computerized Maintenance System (CMS) form and technical manual for the replacement of Digital Steering Controller (DSC) components on WPC-154 vessels. The document, designated H20034.D (Revised 12/15/21), provides detailed maintenance procedures for replacing defective steering controller components and reconfiguring the system after component replacement.
The maintenance procedure requires technicians to complete equipment lockout/tagout procedures, secure multiple power sources, and don appropriate personal protective equipment including electrical workers' gloves, glove shells, and goggles. The replacement components include seven expendable items: Circuit Card Assemblies (P/N 701129-1 and 701130-1), Computer Subassembly (P/N 701127-1), Cartridge Fuse (P/N JB-812040), Data Entry Keyboard (P/N 831020), Power Supply (P/N 701128.1), and Electromagnetic Relay (P/N JB-821052). Following component installation and enclosure cover reinstallation, technicians must configure the Digital Steering Controller using the keypad, entering parameters across six configuration submenus including rudder angle settings, solenoid valve information, startup behavior, dual synchronization settings, bumpless transfer configuration, and Station Control Processor (SCP) settings. The document includes critical warnings regarding electrical hazard risks, multiple power sources, and prohibitions against implementing password protection on the controller. An accompanying Parts & Material Request/Use Form (CG-4491) lists the seven replacement components with their National Item Identification Numbers (NIINs) for supply chain processing.
