About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers file for the Keno and Link Dam Log Boom Replacement project. The Q&A provides technical details about log boom replacement at two dam locations (Keno and Link) within the Klamath Basin. Key technical details include: the log booms will use pre-existing anchor points without additional earth movement, and will be installed by the local O&M crew. Water depth varies by location - the Keno site (700-foot boom) has mid-channel depths ranging from 13.5-15 feet, while the Link site (460-foot boom) has mid-channel depths between 5-11.5 feet. The document includes Google Earth images showing the precise log boom locations at each dam site, with red arrows indicating the proposed boom placement.

Keno and Link Dam Log Boom Replacement Questions and Answers

1) Type of sediments for anchoring the sides of the boom?

A: Since this is a log boom replacement at each location, we will be using pre-existing anchor points. We will not be digging into the solid on either side of the river, as the anchor points are already set up. No earth movement is anticipated during installation (and our local O&M crew will install themselves).

2) The Depth of the water in the area where the boom will be anchored?

A:The log boom will be anchored on land not in water.

3) Is that depth fixed or variable and by what range of depth variation?

A: Approximate depth at mid channel for each location is variable. Keno (the 700 foot boom site) ranges between 13.5-15 feet depth. Link (460 -foot boom location) ranges between 5-11.5 feet.

4) Do you have a sketch of the area that needs the boom?

A: Pictures below are two google earth images that show the location of the log booms being replaced.
