About this file
This document package includes technical specifications and drawings for the replacement of bridge cranes in the Left and Right Powerhouses at Grand Coulee Dam.
The project involves removing the existing cranes and installing new top-running bridge cranes in each powerhouse capable of tandem operation with a 700-ton lifting beam. The new cranes will have 350-ton main hoists and 30-ton auxiliary hoists. They must be designed to maintain the historical character of the existing cranes. The specifications provide extensive requirements for crane components, controls, electrical systems, structural design, coatings, testing and training. The drawings include informational plans and sections of the powerhouses as well as manufacturer drawings of the existing cranes.
The solicitation is for the design, removal of the old cranes, and installation of the new cranes. Pricing is included for the lump-sum design work as well as unit prices for removal and installation of each crane. The response due dates for design submittals are tied to construction milestones. The award date is not provided. The Department of Interior Bureau of Reclamation is the contracting agency.
