About this file
This document contains questions and answers related to Solicitation 140P8624Q0063 for the REPLACE OUTDOOR MICROWAVE INFRASTRUCTURE project. The key details are:
The power system should be replaced with an equivalent to support the existing IRU600 equipment, not any additional equipment. There is no requirement for UPS backup, except at the Black Mt site which requires 5-30 minutes of battery backup. Spares should be included for the dehydrator and power supplies, but not the radios as they will not be replaced. The Aviat radio hardware from the waveguide pressure windows to the antennas will need to be replaced with equivalent equipment that meets the signal quality and reliability requirements, but it does not have to be Aviat-branded. The solicitation is being issued by the Department of the Interior National Park Service Pacific West Region.

Solicitation: 140P8624Q0063, REPLACE OUTDOOR MICROWAVE INFRASTRUCTURE
Questions and Answers
1) Please confirm the capacity of the power system. Is it supposed to match what is existing, or will the new system be designed to support only the Aviat equipment?
Replace with equivalent power system to support the existing IRU600 equipment. It will not power any other equipment.
2) What is the battery backup hours requirement?
There is no requirement for UPS considerations, except in the case of the Black Mt site which has a backup power requirement of 5-30 minutes. The UPS is not intended to support equipment until service personnel arrive or commercial power restored. It is only intended to power long enough for generator backup to initiate. There is currently a rack mount battery solution that should be duplicated in any solution since GOGA pays by the RU’s occupied within the shelter.
3) Regarding spares, should we include spares only for chargers and dehydrators, or should spares for radios also be included?
Radios will not be replaced and there is no requirement for spares. Please do include in your proposal one entire complete set of both the dehydrator and power supplies along with any recommended additional spares for the dehydrator and power supplies of known high casualty rates.
4) Can you confirm is you are providing the Aviat radio hardware associated with this replacement?
From the waveguide pressure windows inside the structure to the IRU600 transceivers then yes, that is pre-existing and recent and that stays. anything from the pressure windows to the antennas needs an equivalent replacement.
5) Is non-Aviat hardware that meets specifications acceptable to propose if the hardware is not provided?
The equipment list provided is so that any responding party can properly assess what is currently installed AFTER the pressure window and provide equivalent replacement equipment and hardware. And no the requirements do not have to be brand specific (ie.
AVIAT). It just has to meet the final signal quality and strength requirements to maintain the 99.999%> reliability.
