Text version
1) Rafters seem more ornate than what is seen in the drawing. Do I bid what I see or what is drawn?
Bid what you see. The Secretary of the Interiors Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties require preservation treatments to replace material in kind.
I would like to emphasis you must retain as much historic material as possible for all spalling repairs. This is primarily a painting project; we are only concerned with repairs to structurally unsound concrete on the west side of the building. The purpose of the repairs is to avoid painting over concrete that is at risk of falling, and to cover exposed rebar to prevent further spalling.
2) Corbels, there is a pocket above them what are we doing with that?
Adherence to the Secretary of the Interiors Standards will apply, the historic form of the building will be maintained. An emphasis should be placed on preserving as much of the historic fabric as possible, the goal is to remove as little as possible of the original building. Removing a corbel and forming a new one is the least desirable option.
3) All Copper that’s unpainted stays unpainted? You are not calling for any type of treatments?
Gutters will not be painted nor will there be any treatments.
4) Will lifts will be permitted and parking blocked off? Will a storage container be allowed to stay on site?
Contractors will be permitted to store lifts, and equipment trailers on site for the duration of the work. Contractors will also be allowed to block parking access to areas that will interfere with work or pose a safety hazard to the public.
