Pre-Bid Questions & Answers Summary
Q1 – Please confirm that the contractor will not be responsible for any of the lighting fixtures?
A1 – Confirmed. The contractor will not be responsible to supply or install any lighting fixtures shown on the drawings. The first drawing is shown for reference only, the contractor is not responsible for anything shown on that drawing.
Q2 – Please clarify the extent of work related to the demo and re-wiring of the sub-panel fed by Panel C.
A2 – This line item will be revised to include a study to determine which circuits are active in both the sub-panel and Panel C. Then only the active circuits from the sub panel will be rerouted to Panel C.
If there is still not enough room in Panel C, we will prioritize which circuits to reroute or eliminate during construction. The contractor will NOT be required to install a new or larger panel as part of this project. The sub-panel on the wall is to be completely removed and the wall patched.
Q3 – Please confirm that work ends at the mounted receptacles or junction boxes and is not required to connect directly to the fixtures or exhibits?
A3 – Confirmed. The exhibit installer will connect from the receptacles or junction boxes, all that is required as part of this contract is to install conduit and wires from the existing panels to the junction boxes or receptacles that will also be installed under this contract. The receptacles and junction boxes will be roughly less than 1 ft above the floor. Exact locations will be coordinated with the exhibit installers prior to construction.
Q4 – Is replacement of any of the underfloor screen or insulation required?
A4 – Yes, any underfloor screen or insulation removed during the installation should be replaced or repaired.
Q5 – The drawings call to coordinate the electrical work with the displays. How will this sequence work in terms of time frame and scheduling?
A5 – The displays will not be installed until after the work in this contract is completed, the lighting fixtures have already been installed. The contractor will submit a plan for their final installation locations to the Park prior to work and the Park will confirm with the display installers that it is acceptable.
Q6 – The government references surface mounted raceway being used where wall interiors cannot be accessed. Should this conduit be EMT or Wiremold.
A6 – Provide a conduit that meets the requirements in Spec section 26 05 33 - Raceways and Boxes.
Submit conduit for approval prior to installation. There will be very little places of exposed on wall runs, wiremold will not be necessary.
Q7 – Where is the floor radiant heating located? Is there a layout plan for this?
A7 – The radiant floor heating is throughout the floors and walls. Before drilling through a floor or wall, the contractor must confirm they will not hit any radiant heating tubes. The floor tubes can be seen from in the crawl space from underneath. The walls will need to be located at time of construction with the help of maintenance staff. The contractor will be responsible.
Q8 – Please provide AV Cut Sheets?
A8 – See attached AV equipment cut sheets.
Q9 – Who is the Color-Ad Group POC?
A9 – For right now, the POC will be the Park Project Manager, William McHugh, William_mchugh@nps.gov, 559-565-4234
Q10 – Is it possible to get E’s without all the mark ups?
A10 – These drawings provided are the latest and most accurate drawings available.
Q11 – Is there any empty conduit that we need to provide for A/V and/or TelComm runs other than what is show on drawings?
A11 – Provide conduit, cable, and receptable for AV equipment as shown on the drawings. See attached AV cut sheets, submit receptacle/outlet for AV equipment prior to installation.
Q12 – Will case work come equipped with these electrical devices or rough-in for electrical devices? Will cut sheets be provided? Do we need to cut into furniture? Any particular color request for trim?
A12 – The “casework” refers to the exhibits, these will not be installed prior to the scope of this contract.
The final location of all outlets and receptacles will be coordinated with the casework/exhibit installers to ensure accurate locations. There are no specific “cut sheets” for these. There will be no need to cut into furniture, just walls and floors. Color to be submitted for review prior to installation and follow painting spec.
