About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers amendment (Amd 0003) for Request for Quote (RFQ) 140P8525Q0029 for Propane Tank Replumbing and Inspection at Yosemite National Park. The Q&A addresses six key technical and logistical issues related to the tank replacement project, including tank liquid levels, regulator specifications, meter replacement options, and fuel management during the project. Notable details include the contractor being responsible for removing existing fuel, storing it in a temporary tank, maintaining propane supply to the building during work, and returning fuel to the tank after completion, with an expected potential loss of up to 1,500 gallons of propane during the tank vapor removal and refilling process.

PROPANE TANK REPLUMBING AND INSPECTION
Yosemite National Park Questions and Answers – Amd 0003
The following are questions and answers received during the RFQ:
1. What is the anticipated liquid level of the tank on August 1, 2025?
a. Answer: We do not know; we have asked the supply contractor to stop delivering to this tank to start drawing the level down
2. What is the outlet pressure of the regulators in the tank and vaporizer area?
a. Answer: I do not have that information; these are industrial size regulators if that helps.
3. Can regulators be replaced with a different manufacturer and be sized more appropriate to the existing vaporizer capacity?
a. Answer: We have no preference on manufacturers. We do want the system to function with natural vaporization if the vaporizer were to go out. If smaller regulators won’t impact that, then it is OK. This is a large building with large draw in the winter and spring season.
4. Can existing diaphragm meters be replaced with a turbine meter?
a. Answer: I would like to know the difference and why a turbine meter is being proposed. We don’t use the meters for anything, we are replacing them because they are there and we may use them in the future.
5. Up to 1,500-gallons propane can be expected to be lost through the tank vapor removal and re-filling process. Will this be realized and expected by park personnel on site?
a. Answer: Yes
6. Is there any knowledge as to the level of which the propane tank will be filled at time of service? If filled, will a temporary tank be required or will a temporary tank be provided by Yosemite National Park with or without propane having been removed?
a. Answer: The contractor awarded this replumb contract is responsible for removing the fuel from the existing tank and storing it in a temporary tank to allow for propane supply to the building while work is performed. The contractor is also responsible for putting fuel back into tank when work has been complete. The government will not be providing any tanks, nor assisting in fuel removal. All such activities are the responsibility of the contractor and pricing for such included with the offeror’s quote.
