About this file
This is a Questions & Answers document from Solicitation Amendment No. 3 (Attachment 4) for RFQ 140P8426Q0027 issued by the National Park Service for Lava Beds National Monument.
The document addresses clarifications on the "Supply & Deliver Metal Roof Shakes" solicitation. Question 6 confirms that the plywood requirement (80 square feet of 5/8" plywood) previously stated in the solicitation documents is no longer required and should be disregarded by interested parties. Question 7 specifies metal trim dimensions for roof edges: the gable ends (rake) require 9 inches of coverage to cover the rafter, and the eaves trim should measure 1¼ inches to cover the wood edge on the roof with 4 inches of coverage on the roof itself, as there is no fascia board—only open rafter tails.

TITLE: Supply & Deliver Metal Roof Shakes
SOLICITATION
(RFQ) NUMBER:
140P8426Q0027
Follow-On Questions and Answers:
QUESTION 6: The solicitation states 80 square feet of 5/8” plywood which seems like a small amount – please confirm that is the correct quantity.
ANSWER: We (NPS-LABE) no longer require the supply and delivery of plywood as part of this solicitation. Interested parties may disregard plywood in any of the solicitation documents.
QUESTION 7: What is the size of the metal trim required for the gable ends (the rake) and the eaves?
ANSWER: For the gable ends (Rake) we need 9 inches of coverage to cover the rafter. For eaves there is no fascia board, just open rafter tails, so the eave trim should be 1 ¼ inch to cover the edge of wood on the roof and 4 inch of coverage on the roof.
