SOLICITATION NO. 140P8423R0010
SHADE STRUCTURES, CHAPARRAL DAY USE AREA
PINNACLES NATIONAL PARK
SAN BENITO COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
SITE VISIT – AUGUST 3, 2023
SITE VISIT SUMMARY:
A site visit was conducted on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time.
Participants met at the West Pinnacles Contact Station, in Soledad, California. From there the group travelled to the nearby site at Chaparral Day Use Area.
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS FROM SITE VISIT AND RECEIVED TO DATE:
Q1: What is the anticipated project start date? (If contractor purchases items - will there be a procurement period, ie the shade structures?)
A1: At this time the anticipated period of performance is 09/18/2023 to 03/16/2024. Refer to clause 52.211-10 which provides 180 calendar days of contract time, which will begin once the contracting officer issues the Notice to Proceed document. It is anticipated that materials procurement and on-site work can be accomplished during this 180-day window, as on-site work is anticipated to take no more than 60 days.
Q2: In the solicitation; 1st paragraph it says; "and maintain the Chaparral Day Use picnic area".
We do not see any scope for this [- please clarify?]
A2: The referenced sentence, “The National Park Service (NPS) at Pinnacles National Park (PINN) has a requirement to add steel shade structures and maintain the Chaparral Day Use picnic area…” is a general statement of the park’s need. The word “maintain” is a general reference to the NPS needing to maintain the site, which will be accomplished in part by the work specifically covered under this contract.
Q3: To confirm the Bid/Proposal due date is 8/17/23 by 3pm PST.
A3: Proposals must be received in their entirety via email as instructed in Section L no later than the date and time specified in Block 13 of the SF 1442 (8/17/2023 by 3:00p.m. PDT).
Q4: For the 12’ x 12’ shelters (4) they do not have an eave height noted that I can find. They have a 7’-6” eave listed for the larger shelters. Should I assume 7’-6” for the 12’ x 12’?
A4: Yes, assume 7’ 6” eave height for all structures.
B08_Attachment_06_140P8423R0010_Site Visit Notes‐Q‐A
Q5: Is equipment allowed on the Prewitt Point Trail and Balconies Trail?
A5: Yes, both work areas are out of wilderness boundaries and small pieces of equipment may be permitted. The equipment must be small enough to fit in the current footprint of the trail tread or smaller (for Prewitt Point approximately 50-55”or less, and the rest of the site can accommodate approx. site 84” or less).
Q6: What gauge metal is needed for the shade structures?
Q6: The manufacturer's structural calculations for each size shelter will determine the tubing gauge, which may vary throughout the structure. Depending on the manufacturer of the shade structure, we realize gauge size may vary, which is acceptable.
