RFQ # 140P8324Q0059 - Attachment C Fort Vancouver National Historic Site Supply and Install Brussels Reproduction Carpet – Chief Factor’s House
Vendor’s Question and Answers:
Q1: Can you please provide a photo of the Brussels Reproduction carpet requested in the solicitation?
A1: We are asking for suggestions on reproduction patterns/colorways for us to choose from that are appropriate to the 1845 period, not to reproduce an already existing pattern. You will see that in the statement of work.
Q2: Why have you specified a 32" drop? There are many historic patterns that have a smaller pattern repeat. A 32" drop means that you must order much more carpet in order to match the pattern. Also, a 32" drop is NOT standard for carpets of this time. Would you please explain the basis of this decision?
A2: If a reduced drop can meet the needs of the project and is still historically appropriate the government is willing to consider it in a quote.
Q3: Why have you specified 4-ply worsted yarn? The recognized yarn spec on 256 pitch Worsted Brussels Wilton is 2ply 256's using the Dewsbury scale for describing worsted yarns. American yarn terminology is different and this could be a simple matter of interpretation. Do you have a full specification in mind? Do you have information on the 1974 specification for carpet? Is this what you are trying to match?
A3: If the 2-ply yarn can meet the needs of the project and is still historically appropriate the government is willing to consider it in a quote.
Q4: Is the carpet to be installed wall to wall or is it for area rugs in the 3 rooms?
A4: The carpet will be wall-to-wall.
Q5: I have been trying to find photos of the existing carpet in the Douglas Sitting Room and can not find any...do you have any photos of the existing carpet for our NYC Art Department to review?
A5: Pictures for reference will be provided in the amendment.
