Solicitation # 140P8323Q0036
Water Tank Cleaning Questions and Answers
1) Do all the tanks have external and internal ladders? No.
All have external ladders These systems have internal ladders:
Marblemount
Newhalem Colonial Creek Stehekin Landing
These systems DO NOT have internal ladders:
Environmental Learning Center Hozomeen
2) Do all the tanks have an access hatch greater than 18" diameter? Yes.
3) Can the Marblemount tank be accessed by atv? No, but park personnel will assist with transporting gear/equipment to work site.
4) Can the Newhalem, Colonial Creek and Environmental learning tanks be accessed via truck and trailer?
Newhalem – Yes, easily Colonial Creek – Yes, with component driver and might need 4x4 truck.
Environmental Learning Center – Probably not, It is pretty tight space for just a long bed truck to turn around in.
5) Will the repair materials be provided for the Environmental Learning Center tank and can you supply photos of the area needed to be repaired as well as a list of materials needed if not provided?
No. Materials must be sourced by the company that is awarded the contract. There are at least four broken brackets per the last inspection. The 90-degree fittings look to have failed and need to be rebolted to the side of the tank. See attached photos.
6) The access to the Hozomeen is currently limited to boat access only, the equipment needed to dive this reservoir and clean it would be much more than the ferry will allow, is this tank to be just inspected with a ROV?
This is not correct. The road is closed to the public, but park personnel and its contractors are able to drive after communicating and scheduling with B.C. Road Construction Managers.
7) For the tanks that are not accessible by truck and trailer is the use of an ATV to haul gear permitted?
Yes, except for Marblemount.
8)Are motorized rotary brushes required to be used?
No, motorized brushes are not required to be used unless necessary. The most gentle removal method that completes the job is preferred in order to protect the sides and bottom of the tank. Care must be taken when choosing bristle strength on any brush used. Special care should be taken to avoid damaging the sealing gasket/material that protects the metal’s edge on the interior side wall where the metal overlaps, Pictures of Environmental Learning Center’s struts and brackets.
