About this file

This document is a set of questions and answers related to Amendment #3 of Request for Quote (RFQ) #140P8124Q0070 for Potable Water Tank Cleaning services at Death Valley National Park.

The key details are:

  • The National Park Service Pacific West Region is responsible for the RFQ, which requires diving and cleaning 11 potable water tanks.
  • The Park prefers the tanks to be as full as possible before work begins, due to the poor condition of the tank ladders. Utilities personnel will assist with flushing, chlorination, and water quality testing after the dive is complete.
  • Most of the tanks are in remote areas, so the water in the tank will be the closest water source. For the Furnace Creek area, the Cow Creek water system will be the nearest source.
  • The RFQ number is 140P8124Q0070, and it is an amendment #3 to the original solicitation.

RFQ # 140P8124Q0070 Potable Water Tank Cleaning Amendment #3: 8-12-24

Question: Who will be responsible for emptying the tanks as much as practicable before work begins? If so, how much water is typically left in the tanks after draining? Are there any specific accessibility concerns we should be aware of for certain tanks?

Answer: It is the Park’s preference to fill the tanks as much as possible due to condition of the tank ladders. Most tank ladders are in need of replacement. Once the dive is complete Utilities personnel will assist with flushing, adjusting chlorine levels and BACT sampling to ensure potability of the water.

Question: Could you provide information on the location and proximity of the nearest water source to the tanks? This will help us plan for any water-related needs during the project.

Answer: Most of these tanks are in remote areas and the water in the tank will be the closest water source. In the Furnace Creek area, the Cow Creek water system will be the closest water source and vice versa.
