Railroad Tamping and Crossing Replacement – CUVA
Questions and Answers listed below:
QUESTIONS:
Question # Question Answer/Response
1. Will bid item CLIN20 “Station Road Crossing
Replacement 1 LS” be combined with bid item CLIN20 “Station Road Pedestrian Crossing 1 LS”, creating a continuous 73 TF full depth concrete crossing?
Yes, that is the idea that removing the two separate crossings and create 1 73 foot continuous concrete tub crossing.
2. Will Station Road be able to be closed for a period of time to complete the above crossings?
Yes it can be closed, We will just need a schedule to compare with the Parks schedule. We should be able to come up with a week or so to close the parking lot and road. We would still need access to the boarding station to clean the restrooms. Visitors will still be able to access the restrooms there from the towpath.
3. Under Tamping and Aligning bid Item CLIN10, does the contractor include ballast quantity? If so how much per mile? Or is the NPS going to provide stone out of there stockpile?
Contractor should include the tamping price and the estimated quantity of ballast need to create a 12” ballast shoulder. Some areas might not need it and some areas will need it. NPS does not have an estimated quantity. Contractor will need to field verify the quantity that is needed. The Ballast at the Everett stock yard can be used if the contractor estimate is short. Will have to notify NPS for permission before using. (Example: Contractor estimates 200 tons but 40 tons more is needed to complete the work.
Then contractor can pull from Everett stock yard).
