PROJECT INFORMATION

Contract Number 140P5424R0018

Park Everglades National Park (EVER)

Project Title Rehabilitation of Archives / Museum Spaces at DBC

A1.01 Does the superintendent, SSHO, and QC Manager need to be 3 separate individuals?

The superintendent and SSHO may be the same individual. QC Manager must be separate and have experience in specialized HVAC equipment and clean agent fire suppression systems preferred. A preparatory meeting before the execution of each phase will be required.

A1.02 Are there any phasing requirements?

Yes. Room 58 will continue to house collections throughout the duration of the project. Once the contract is awarded contractor will be required to provide a schedule that allows for work to proceed with minimal disruption to the space. The work schedule will be developed and coordinated with the museum staff. (Room 58 requires only new lighting fixtures and HVAC ductwork with painting of affected areas.)

A1.03 If the building remains occupied, how many people will be in the building?

There will not be any staff working in the spaces to be renovated.

A1.04 Are there any temporary heating/cooling requirements?

Yes. Room 58 which will continue to house collections will need to have continued cooling requirements throughout the project.

A1.05 Can the period of performance be extended after the award once the material/equipment lead times are confirmed due to current market conditions for the equipment for this project?

Depends on the situation and what clause in the contract can be applied. Time extensions are usually provided for excusable delays and how the Federal Acquisition Regulations define it.

A1.06 Are soil boring reports available? If not, it will be assumed that the excavation will be clear of rocks and obstructions.

There are no excavation requirements for this project, except for concrete pads for the AC condensers on the exterior.

A1.07 Will the government protect any items not removed before construction or does this fall under the contractor's responsibility? If the contractor is responsible, please confirm the quantity or size of existing items needed to be protected.

NPS staff will remove all items from Room 57 before construction. Items remaining in Room 58 will be covered for protection. There is minor renovation work in Room 58. (Lighting fixtures and mechanical ductwork only.) The Contractor shall exercise standard care while performing work in Room 58. There are no requirements for the Contractor to move any existing items.

A1.08 Will the government remove, store, and reinstall any existing furniture, equipment, etc. from either of the rooms?

Yes. All government property will be removed from Room 57 and items remaining in Room 58 will be covered. If there is a need to move any items in Room 58 during construction, the Contractor shall first contact the COR or a Museum staff person before moving any items and to coordinate the work.

A1.09 In Room 57, there is an existing picture of a map of the Everglades. It is our understanding this needs to be removed. Is there an intent to re‐use or can this be disposed of?

There is no re‐use intended. The map may be disposed of.

A1.10 Please provide the contact information for the building controls contractor.

Upon contract award, contact information for facilities management personnel responsible for building controls will be provided. Meetings will also be held before work commences for coordination of the work.

A1.11 Please provide the contact information for the building fire alarm company.

Upon contract award, contact information for facilities management personnel responsible for fire alarms will be provided. Meetings will also be held before work commences for coordination of the work.

A1.12 Please confirm the manufacturer of the existing roofing system and who carries the current warranty of the roofing system.

The existing roofing system was installed less than ten years ago. Records are not available for either the manufacturer’s name or warranty. The contractor shall exercise care with any penetrations or work near or at the roof and follow project specifications and standard industry practices with work related to the existing roof.
