About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) Amendment 1 for solicitation 140P5325Q0011 related to the Mill Springs Battlefield National Monument split rail fencing project. The Q&A addresses two specific vendor inquiries: first, confirmation that the government can offload materials using a forklift, and second, approval to use Eastern Red Cedar instead of the originally specified Western Cedar. The vendor noted that Eastern Red Cedar is historically appropriate, does not require heat treatment, and has a long lifespan, which was affirmed by the government as acceptable for the project.

Questions and Answers
Amendment 1
1. Question: Do you have a forklift for offload available on your end, or will you need a crane?
Answer: Yes, we can offload.
2. Question: We provide Eastern Red Cedar which is one of the original woods used during the time that your original fence was built. You have specified Western Cedar which is not native to our area. The benefit of this is that eastern red cedar does not fall in the category needing to be heat treated and has a great life span. Would our rails be okay for your project?
Answer: Yes, it would be okay.
