Questions and Answers for Solicitation 140P5122R0008
Question 1:
Electrical:
Refer to the snapshot below taken from Drawing E3.0. Please clarify the metering shown on the “Power Riser Diagram”. There is no utility company metering shown on this diagram. The only metering is shown to be mounted internally in the new Main Panel “MP”. Is that a correct representation of the desired power metering? It is typically an external metering setup on the exterior of the building and not part of the interior building electrical equipment.
Answer:
This is an internal meter for the Park and is not associated with the Utility Meter outside. The existing utility electrical meter is located outside near the parking lot. This meter is to be reused. The meter shown on the new panel 'MP' inside the building is a demand meter for NPS staff to monitor electrical usage in the building and thus does not need to be accessed by the utility so it can remain in the location shown. Specification section Panelboards 26 47 10 - 2.11.A.1 provides the requirements of this 'demand meter' shown on the Power Riser Diagram, which is referred to in the specifications as an 'Electronic power monitor'
Question 2:
Are we to intercept the existing underground secondary line from the power company and re-direct it into the new “Service Disconnect”? The Power Riser Diagram is not clear on that. If so, can the location of the existing underground secondary line be identified on a site plan and made available to us? We need that information in order to know the distance between it and the location of the new “Service Disconnect” switch and help identify the work involved.
Answer:
This is an internal meter for the Park and is not associated with the Utility Meter outside. The new service disconnect is to be located in the same location as the existing service disconnect. The existing conduit and conductor (existing secondary feeder) to the existing service disconnect can be reused for the connection to the new 400A service disconnect.
Question 3:
What is the name of the power company serving that area?
Answer: North Alabama Electric
Question 4:
Should the fire alarm system have horn/strobe notification or a voice EVAC system?
Fire Alarm Specification, section 28 31 00, page 5 paragraph G. - Provide a digital audio system, including supervised primary amplifiers standby amplifiers, and tone generators.
Fire Alarm Drawing Page FA0.0, Fire Alarm Notes 8, 10, & the fire alarm legend reflect horn/strobe devices.
Fire Alarm Drawing Page FA2.0 have wattage ratings for voice evac shown by the horn/strobe symbols. Horn/strobe devices usually reflect decibel levels.
Answer:
Voice Evac Com is not required. Horn/strobes is acceptable. The digital audio system will not be necessary as part of the horn/strobe system. The decibel level of the horn/strobe system is set by the manufacturer.
Please provide clarification if the fire alarm system is to have horn/strobe notification of a voice EVAC system.
Answer:
Voice Evac Com is not required. Horn/strobes is acceptable. The digital audio system will not be necessary as part of the horn/strobe system.
