The amendment addresses six inquiries submitted by prospective contractors regarding specifications and requirements for building two American reproduction 6-pound cannon carriages.
The Government Response clarifies critical specifications: wheels measure 50 inches bottom to top with additional dimensions provided in project documents; axles must be metal-reinforced or solid metal but paintable to conceal the metal; metal parts are illustrated in attached photographs with tape measures for reference; existing carriage pictures have been provided for contractor reference; wooden storage boxes with metal-reinforced corners must be mounted onto the completed carriages; and the submission deadline is April 24, 2026, at 10:00 AM EDT. The project encompasses lumber milling to achieve proper thickness and fabrication of metal hardware, with wage determination requirements specified in attachment 4 (Wage Determination 2015-4143, Rev 33, dated 12/3/2025).

140P4326Q0020 – SARA Cannons Amendment 0001 RFIs 1-6
1. Are there any details on the wheels? The dimension is in the specs.
Government Response: Attached pictures with a tape measure in the picture to give a better Idea. Several pictures of the wheels and the metal hoop on them are also included. They are bottom to top 50 Inches. The rest of the measurements were provided in the documents.
2. Are there any more details on the axles? Seems like they can be all wood or metal and the wheel hubs can have a metal bearing (boxing) inserted or just wood.
Government Response: Traditionally they would have been Wooden axles. We have in the specifications that they are metal. They should be metal reinforce axles or metal for this application. But it must be paintable to hide the metal.
3. Can we get better pictures/drawings of the metal parts?
Government Response: Attached several pictures with a tape near some for reference.
4. Are there any pictures of the existing carriages?
Government Response: Attached several pictures of the cannon carriage and parts.
5. Do we need to build storage boxes that mount onto the carriages?
Government Response: Yes, we would like the storage boxes on the carriages. They can be wooden and have the corners reinforced with metal.
6. Please confirm due date. Section 8 of the SF 1449 states 4/23/2026 @ 1000 ED, however PDF page 5 of the solicitation states 10:00 AM ET on April 24, 2026.
Government Response: Responses will be due 4/24/2026 at 10:00am EDT.
