1. Scope and Objectives A. 15 ix & xi Re Warranty, maintenance schedule, and operations manuals:
a. Since the government is providing the app, does the government have existing manuals that can be included regarding the app, troubleshooting, etc. that can be included. If not, is the contractor expected to create such a manual?
RESPONSE: Para II.A.9: Clarification - The government is providing the app framework in the form of spreadsheets. Para II.A.15: Yes, the contractor is required to create an operations manual. Manuals from previous installations may be provided as examples.
b. The equipment specified in the equipment list come with their own warranties, manuals, and troubleshooting guides. As AD specialists, we do not provide any additional warranty or manuals to 3rd party items beyond those offered and provided by the manufacturers. Do we simply include the individual item’s manual and warranty information in the binder?
RESPONSE: Yes, provide all paperwork (i.e., warranties, manuals, etc.) with the binder in addition to the site-specific manual requirements set forth in Para II.A.15. Manuals from previous installations can be provided as examples
2. Scope and Objectives C 5: Who is supposed to load the audio files into the “(10) handheld devices from section A, paragraph 12, line i?”
RESPONSE: This is an oversite; change Para II.C.5 to read - Submit final AD files as .mp3 files on five duplicate thumb drives and all files from section A, paragraph 12, line i.
a. If it is the NPS, do they need the devices in order to do this or is it done through the app?
RESPONSE: Refer to question 2 response.
b. If it is the contractor, will NPS provide access to the app and appropriate training and instruction in order to load the audio files?
RESPONSE: Refer to question 2 response.

3. The RFP seems to contradict itself by saying the AD script will be machine read as part of your current app platform (7 pt ii), but (B 1) requests a voice narration for the wayside exhibits and orientation of the island.
RESPONSE: Yes, the voice narration will be in addition as separate files for future expanse.
The handheld device, in accessibility mode, will machine read the text from the NPS app.
4. Please confirm that the scope of the AD tour to be 3 parts; 1/2 hr. at the Visitor Center, 1 hr. at the Museum, and an outdoor ADT for waysides and outdoor views.
RESPONSE: No, the ADT is only two parts, the VC and the Museum. The ADT script and narration for waysides and points of interest will be used with the NPS app.
5. Is the Waysides/orientation length or number of stops (beyond the 25 waysides) determined?
RESPONSE: No, this will need to be determined and confirmed during contract award site visit. NPS is estimating four additional stops beyond the 25 waysides. VC orientation (outside), Museum orientation (outside), Boat ride, and Island orientation.
6. The ADT script seems to be object based with some directional for main points of interests
(e.g., bathrooms, gift shop, etc.). Please confirm the ADT does not lead visitors through a guided experience that requires wayfinding directional instructions.
RESPONSE: Para II.A.8.iii, this is not a guided experience, but basic navigational assistance within the exhibit space is required.
7. Please confirm that the contractor is responsible for only providing the AD element in the correct format for the app but will not need to populate the app or provide any development support for the app platform.
RESPONSE: Unclear what is meant by “AD element” The contractor shall perform tasks relative to Para II.A.5-11.
8. Please confirm if the app is only supported for iOS devices. Is there plans to create an Android based app in the future?
RESPONSE: Para II.A.14, The app is currently only for iOS devices, as the NPS ADT app does not currently work on Android devices. At this time there is no schedule to provide an
Android based app.
9. Please confirm all functionality of the device that is required for the app use (or confirm that the requirement on 12.i is all that is needed).
RESPONSE: The requirements of Para II.A.12.i and Para II.A.14 are what is required.

10. For point 13 please elaborate if you are referencing the charging cases or if you are just requiring a solution for movement and collection? Please also confirm that the equipment will be kept in an environmentally protected indoor space when not in active use by visitors.
RESPONSE: NPS is requiring a storage case, non-charging, as a solution for movement and collection. The equipment will be kept inside either the VC or the Museum and controlled by the NPS staff.
11. Please confirm if there is a preferred beacon solution within the NPS sites nationally.
RESPONSE: NPS has used Blue Charm and Accent Systems among others, however there is not a preferred manufacturer.
12. With Apple discontinuing the iPod Touch a few months ago, the easy to use device to hand out within a museum setting is no longer a viable option as Apple's support of maintenance and parts will soon no longer be available. The other iOS solutions have their own issues (e.g., the iPad is too bulky for a comfortable UX, and the iPhone is a very desirable item to steal and an unnecessary higher cost unit. For this reason, we would suggest a non-iOS based solution. Is the NPS open to another path to a viable platform or is the currently built iOS only app the only solution you are sourcing?
RESPONSE: Para II.A.14, at this time Apple is the only acceptable delivery device.
