9 Did the engineers confirm that the Aviat Aprisa SR+ radios will handle the required Allen Bradley data transfer rates?
Neither Allen Bradley nor Aviat Aprisa SR+ are specific requirements of the project – they were used as basis of design. The design does not seek to prescribe any particular make or model (PLC or radio) – the contractor may submit any equipment they feel best suits the needs of the system.
DOR is not aware of a published “data transfer rate” for Allen Bradey PLCs inherent to the model or ethernet IP protocol – data transfer rate is primarily dependent on the amount of data and frequency of data being sent, which more is dependent on specific configuration and timing of messaging than a protocol or brand. The minimum data update rates specified (every 15-30 sec depending on the application) are not demanding of a high speed connection; payloads are expected to be on the order of kilobytes, not megabytes for daily SCADA functions. The SR+ is the basis of design used for the radio interference analysis report requested by NPS during design; this model exemplifies a modern digital radio with advanced modulation schemes that are expected to outperform the existing analog radios.
