About this file
This file contains Boring Logs (Appendix B) documenting geotechnical investigations for the Proposed Harden Farm Housing project located on Kebo Street in Bar Harbor, Maine. The boring logs were prepared by SW Cole Engineering for Hedgehog Engineering & Design, Inc. Sixteen separate boring logs (B-1 through B-16) were conducted using a Track Mounted Diedrich D-50 drilling rig with a Hollow Stem Auger method, each reaching depths between 7.0 and 13.9 feet.
The logs consistently reveal similar subsurface conditions across the site, including: a top layer of forest duff (0-0.5 feet), followed by a layer of hard, brown silty clay (1.5-2.0 feet), and subsequent layers of dense, brown gravelly sand with occasional cobbles (identified as Glacial Till). Most borings encountered probable bedrock between 10.0 and 15.7 feet depth. The drilling was performed by Seaboard Drilling, LLC, with Ryan Hackett as the driller, and logged by Nate Strout and Alex Allen. No groundwater was observed during the investigations, and standard split-spoon sampling was used throughout the process.
