SUBMISSION & EVALUATION
Work to be performed under this Construction Services project requirement includes:
Construction of a new fire-rated roof and upgraded flashings to protect the historic Wawona Hotel Main Building. This project will replace all wood shakes on the roof of the Main Building. The existing shake roof shows signs of deterioration with moisture damage to adjacent surfaces, including siding and fascia due to missing flashing, no flashing, or damaged gutters and downspouts.
The scope of construction work consists of removing all existing wood shakes (approx. 3/8-inch thick, 30-inches long, with 10-inches exposure), then inspection and repair of the flashing and cupola with in-kind material.
OSHA-approved fall protection anchors shall be installed at the lower roof on 10-feet centers.
The existing downspouts and gutters (installed circa 1995) shall be replaced as needed, using similar gutter styles. Gutter screen shall be added to reduce leaves/needles/debris from entering the gutter. The California Historical Building Code shall be utilized to maintain the integrity of the roof, while addressing water intrusion and deterioration of the exterior envelope, and gutters/downspouts.
Yosemite Hospitality and NPS Historic Preservation Crew will work with the Contractor prior to commencing work to ensure that work is completed in a manner consistent with the buildings historic character and consistent with the Secretary of the Interior's standards. Photo-documentation will be performed before, during, and after construction.
Refer to the Section J Attachments Specifications and Drawings contain in the Solicitation for full details.
