No. This is full and open.
A hydration stabilizer will be considered for approval during the submittal process. Approval of adding a hydration stabilizer will be depending on outdoor temperature.
What is under the stairs?
Concrete structure located under stairs. Stairs and structure are separate
Service road located on Washington side.
NPS staff will be the ONLY individuals allowed to move the cabinets on wheels, due to contents inside. Yellow cabinets DO NOT move.
NPS requests 24 hr. notice to move cabinets out of the way of planned work activities.
How much notice is needed to give NPS to move cabinets in secure archival storage area?
Is the project a set aside for small business?
Limit to 10,000 lbs. Drawings provide further information.
What are the weight restrictions on the visitor center roof?
Yes, a 0.45 water / cement ratio would be considered for approval during the submittal process.
Due to the haul distance will a hydration stabilizer be approved for use to offset the haul time from the plant to the jobsite to effectively start the unload time when the truck arrives on the jobsite?
What construction access is available for the amphitheater?
Who will or who can move the cabinets in archival storage room?
A 0.40 w/c ratio specification will be a difficult mix to produce and haul long distance and achieve a 5-7” slump onsite. It will require more chemicals which in turn can make the mix more difficult to pump, place, and produce consistent air contents. Would a 0.45 w/c cement ratio be considered for approval as most municipalities and DOT agencies recognize for use in our area?
To achieve the design parameters, the specified rock/sand weights appear to considerably over yield which will affect the performance of the mix. Would batch weights provided be allowed to be respectively adjusted to not over/under yield?
Batch weights will be considered and approved for adjustment following submittal of the proposed mix design.

The schedule calls for the physical dimension to be 40”x66”x6”. If you scale off of the plans, the OA & EA ducts are each this approximate dimension. The section on sheet M5.0, shows the heat exchanger covering both the OA & EA ducts. Will we need to provide (2) heat exchangers? Provide a larger heat exchanger than the dimension scheduled? Please let me know.
What is your intent for mounting the heat exchanger?
IEI - Only one (1) heat exchanger needed. Existing connection of OSA and relief air duct to unit inlet and outlet to be demoed and reconfigured as show on section 3/M5.1.

IEI - Motorized dampers to match associated duct size and meet performance specification 23 33 00 part 2.7.
1- Mezzanine Mech Rm: Motorized dampers (2) to match 14x8 ductwork serving ERV-2 (OSA & EA Duct). Refer to Section 2/M5.0.
2- Mezzanine Mech Corridor: Motorized dampers (2) to match 10x6 ductwork serving ERV-1 (OSA & EA duct).
Refer to Sheet M2.2.
IEI - Drawings are diagrammatic in nature to reflect the basis of design. Contractors responsibility to provide miscellaneous supports/metals required to install equipment; refer to section 23 00 00 Part 1.5 & Part 3.10. Framing to be reviewed by CO as a deferred submittal. HPC-1 to also follow any manufacturer installation/mounting instructions.

I would like to propose Josam as an equal to JR Smith on the Trench Drains (TD-1)
No exception taken to providing Josam as an equal to JR Smith for trench drain TD-1.
I am curious on the TD-1 Trench Drains shown on P2.2 -what are the lengths we are looking for here? On sheet P2.1 it appears we have 13 separate 6' long TD's; yet on P2.2 it appears we have one radiused continuous TD.
However, I suspect they are actually sections which appear to be 12' long each. Please confirm.
SHEET P2.1 - The only trench drains on P2.1 are provided by the civil engineer. These are shown at the bottom of the exterior stair landing. The 6 foot sections you may be regarding to are trench drain units provided by the HVAC installer. Plumbing contractor is installing the condensate lines from the units to the waste line. See detail 6/P4.2 and 9/P4.2.
SHEET P2.2 - The trench drains on P2.2 are drawn from column to column. Most trench drains are approximately 11 foot 9 inches in length with the (2) end trenches, on each side, varying in length. These measurements should be field verified prior to ordering sections.
D. Contract Line Item No. 4, Bid Option 3 – New Finishes in Staff Area of Visitor Center, Lump Sum
This item includes replacing finishes to include flooring, ceilings and wall finishes in the staff area (rooms 105 through 113) of the Visitor Center. It covers finishes demolition and replacement beyond that which will be affected by Mechanical work, which is included in the main scope of work. Item includes vapor-retarding protections for areas to be humidified. Is the electrical work in this are part of this option or the base bid?
For the type ‘SE’ light fixture, please provide the height.
Overall height of column luminaire, Type 'SE', to be 8 feet.
The electrical scope for Safety 106 and Restroom 107 as shown on Drawings E1.1 and E2.1 should be included as part of Bid Alt #3. Bid Alt #3 ceiling revision shown on Drawings AD1.2 and A2.0. Replacement of existing flooring should not effect electrical scope.
The electrical scope for the West Restrooms as shown on Drawings E1.1, E1.3, E2.1, and E3.1 should be included as part of Bid Alt #1.
Contract Line Item No. 2, Bid Option 1 – Washington Side Visitor Center Restroom Rehabilitation, Lump Sum This item consists of rehabilitating the restroom on the Washington side of the Visitor Center referred to on the drawings as “West Restrooms.” Is the electrical work in this are part of this option or the base bid?

We are a Lithonia Lighting rep and have been asked to bid a lighting package on the Rushmore Plaza Visitor Center Rehabilitation. Our products are specified on much of the project, but I would be interested in requesting substitution on a few light fixtures that we are not specified on. Will you be accepting substitution requests for this project, and if so, do I send to you?
Variance requests will be entertained during the submittal process.
No exception taken to Josam Pro-Trench Drain in place of the JR Smith product specified in the contract documents.
I see we are asking for a "polymer concrete pre-cast" product. Our experience has NOT been good with this type of product. Deliveries consist of cracked & broken sections due to it's very brittle nature. Once installed, we see cracking & deformation due to the product's poor thermal expansion properties. We have found that the Josam glass-fiber reinforced polyester product has extremely high strength & dimensional stability. It is 1.5 times stronger than polymer concrete & it's thermal expansion is 40% less. I've attached a Josam Pro-Trench Drain Catalog for your review.
Please provide a summary of what days or periods are considered “Off Peak Visitation Days and Hours” as indicated in the RFP. This is important for our development of the phasing and schedules.
Section 01 11 00 1.4 B defines off-peak visitation days as between September 15th and May 16th.
File details come from the government source that posted it.
