Project: GLAC – Hardware for GTSR Log Guard Railing
Park: Glacier National Park
Request for Information (RFI’s)
Date: 20 JUNE 2024
1. Does this qualify for micro-purchase? If so, what is the threshold and is this considered to be either “Federal-Wide Open Market” or “Construction”? If it is for micro-purchase and something other than either of those, what is the classification and threshold?
NPS Answer:
No, this doesn’t qualify as the micro-purchase threshold.
2. If it does not qualify for micro-purchase, can Keystone bid directly, or would it be better if we try to partner with a prime or subcontractor to quote this opportunity?
NPS Answer:
Any company can submit a quote, however, to have the quote considered and be considered for award the quoter shall be registered in SAM.gov, with an active SAM UEI, and have completed the representations and certifications.
3. We have ISO9001 certification. Is any further certification required for this contract?
I am not aware of any other required certification.
4. Is the solicitation for the stud for cut or rolled threads? The reason we ask, is that the photo seems to show the threaded and unthreaded portion of the stud to be the same size. This indicates to our Quality Manager that it might be for cut threads and not roll formed threads. A roll formed threaded stud would be undersized on the non-threaded portion. Is that acceptable? Is there a preference between cut or roll formed threads?
NPS Answer:
I would expect the studs to have cut threads for the reasons mentioned above. I would suggest requiring cut threads.
5. Does the prototype stud with nut need to be from the production process, or can it be from a prototype process?
I would suggest it be from the production process to ensure size and quality.
6. We will need to know what ASTM galvanized spec you need on this double ended stud.
ASTM A153
7. We will need to know what type of hex nut this is in the drawing (finished, jam, heavy, etc.)? Also, is the nut made to fit the Acme thread only?
NPS Answer:
I would use a heavy hex nut. And I believe the nut is for the acme threads only so it would only need to be made for those threads.
8. What grade of material is needed for both the nut and the washer? Is the galvanized spec for the nut and washer the same as the double ended stud?
ASTM A193 B7. Yes, I would use the same galvanized spec as for the double ended stud.
9. What is the overall length tolerance on the studs?
I would suggest 1/8” +-
10. Does everything need to be 100% domestic or are there exceptions to use import nuts/washers, raw material?
Quoters are required to conform and certify that they can and will meet all Non-Manufacturer Rules, Buy American Act, and any applicable Trade Agreements.
11. Are cut threads what is being requested for the double ended stud?
Yes, cut threads.
