About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers file for Solicitation Number 140P1225Q0010, a construction project to replace the concrete pathway at Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument. The Q&A session addressed several technical details, including requests for site photos, bench removal specifications, and cement powder substitutions. Key clarifications include: ASTM C595 cement can be used as an alternative to the originally specified cement, and contractors must review and obtain approval for specific mix designs. Regarding project logistics, the document notes that there will not be another NPS-hosted site visit, but the project site is publicly accessible for offerors to independently inspect. The pre-bid question window has closed, and any future amendments will be posted if additional questions require immediate response.

Questions and Answers:

1. Can photos be provided so we can see the actual sidewalks, bench, and boulders?

See Atch 10 Photos

2. After the bench is carefully removed, does an anchor plate need to be welded on the bottom so it can be mounted to the reinforced concrete?

Carefully remove and salvage the existing bench and deliver to the owner.

3. Can a substitute cement powder can be used. As far as the cement powder goes, Type I Type II is not available for us, so we would not be able to meet that specification. Can a mix of Holcim Blended Cement IT(P25)(L6) HS Pozzolan, and no fly ash be used?

ASTM C595 cement will be acceptable in lieu of the ASTM C150 specified. This particular mix design/product data will need to be reviewed/approved during construction with appropriate documentation but seems viable.

4. Will the awarded contractor be required to obtain any permits?

See Section 013100 – Project Management and Coordination, Part 1 – General, Paragraph 1.7.A. General:

Note: There will not be another NPS hosted site visit. However, the project site is publicly accessible, and offerors are welcome to walk it as their schedule allows. Pre-bid question window has closed. If applicable, a solicitation amendment will be posted with any additional questions received that require immediate response. Offerors must acknowledge all amendments.
