About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document for federal contract opportunity 140L6426Q0010 regarding White Sage Dozer rental services.
The procurement requires rental of a D9 dozer equipped with a 300-foot anchor chain weighing 25,000 pounds. The government is providing the chain and the required attachment hardware (clevises) to connect the chain to an upside-down ripper tooth via the adjustment bar hole. The contractor must supply suitable towing hardware compatible with this configuration to support the 25,000-pound chain load. The government will provide its own fuel via an on-site fuel trailer, so contractors should not include fuel costs in their bids. Delivery and pickup dates are flexible; machines may be delivered early or picked up after the stated rental period ends to accommodate weather delays or scheduling needs. The document references a photo showing the same chain setup on a D8 dozer, indicating the configuration will operate more efficiently on the larger D9 model.

White Sage Dozer Questions 140L6426Q0010
1. We will need to know some chain dimensions to make this work. Drawbar pull on a D9 is ~161,000 lbs. and this will require some large rigging to connect the anchor chain. These are all special order. A link diameter and picture would work well to help us determine the correct parts needed.
Answer:
The chain is 300' and weighs 25,000 lbs. We have the required attachments (clevises) to hook it to the bottom of an upside-down ripper tooth (the hole in the bottom for adjustments). This is the setup in the clipped picture I sent (the photo is the same chain on a D8 instead of a D9 - the process is much smoother on a D9).
2. The bid requested fuel costs. Can you clarify this please? We don’t supply fuel for rental equipment in the field. We would simply charge any fuel needed if the machines were returned less than full. Do you have a source for fuel during the rental?
I didn't request fuel costs. We have our own fuel trailer to provide fuel on site.
3. The dates are clearly listed. What happens if weather doesn’t permit timely delivery or pick up? Can the machines be delivered early and/or picked up days after the rental period ends?
Machines can be delivered early or picked up after the rental period.
4. For this dozer request who is to supply the chain?
We are providing the chain.
5. If you are providing the chain and we have to provide the “ Suitable towing hardware for Ely chain rigging? What size of chain do we need to support?
Answer:
We have the hardware to clip the chain on an upside-down ripper tooth (hole in the adjustment bar). The chain is 300' long and 25,000 lbs.
