About this file

This document is a set of Questions and Answers related to a federal contract opportunity for paper shredding services. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Wyoming State Office (WYSO) requires a contractor to provide labor, tools, materials, equipment, transportation, and supervision to manage and perform onsite shredding and recycling of sensitive documents.

The key details include:

  • The contractor will be required to provide six 36-gallon containers for shredding each month after the initial shredding.
  • All shredding must be performed onsite, and no material can leave the site until after it is shredded.
  • The contractor is not responsible for erasing or certifying hard drives, as that is handled by the government's IT staff.
  • Photo, video, or written proof of destruction and recycling is acceptable.
  • The facility includes a 5,000 sq ft warehouse where the shredding is expected to take place.
  • The agency is in the process of gathering information on mylar paper shredding, and a separate line item for that service is requested.

Q&A:

1. On average, approximately how many boxes per month do you anticipate requiring shredding?

0. After the initial shredding, each month will be the contractor supplied six 36-gallon containers.

1. Do you prefer or require onsite shredding? We'd arrange a truck to come to you and execute bulk shredding onsite.

1. All shredding shall be onsite. No material can leave the site until after it is shredded.

1. Are you open to offsite shredding? We'd arrange a truck to come to you and pick up the bins and securely deliver them to a facility to be shredded.

2. No. All shredding shall be onsite.

1. Do you ever come across hard drives that need to be erased and certified onsite?

3. Our IT staff must erase and certify hard drives so all of that is done in-house and would not be the contractors responsibility. If the contractor comes across a hard drive for some reason, they should give to the Gov employee escorting them.

1. Could you kindly advise if photo/video evidence is fine for showing proof of destruction and recycling proof? Also advise what is the estimated sizes of the rooms, we want to make sure our machinery will fit inside with no issues.

4. A - Either photo or video is sufficient for proof of destruction. Also, will except a written proof of destruction (paper or email). Recycling proof will need to be done through an email or paper copy of quantity and location recycling was taken to.

4. A- We have a warehouse that is about 5,000 sqft. The rest of the office is split between 3 floors. We would anticipate shredding to occur in the warehouse to reduce noise for employees working in the rest of the office.

1. Do you have any photos of the mylar that you can provide?

5. At this time, documents are being gathered and no picture is available at this time. Mylar paper is estimated to vary in size. Please provide a separate line for the optional cost for when such services are needed.
