Questions and Answers

1. Does the duress button activate a visual alert light only, or does it also trigger an audible alarm?

Answer: One light is activated so that law enforcement, manager, and cubicles can easily see.

2. Should the intrusion keypad be touch interface or a button keypad?

Answer: A button keypad designed to endure frequent daily use, minimizing the risk of malfunction or damage over time is the preferred keypad.

3. Is cell coverage needed as a backup method in case of an internet outage?

Answer: The statement of work does not require internet connectivity; instead, cell coverage is typically the standard method for operating the intrusion detection system.

4. Is there a specific BLM-approved wireless IDS manufacturer, platform, or solution that should be proposed to meet the federal security and BLM requirements?

Answer: There is no standard wireless IDS manufacture.

5. Other than the requirements identified in the SOW, are there any required integrations between the IDS and existing electronic/security systems at the facility?

Answer: We generally do not integrate the IDS and existing electronic/security systems.

6. What communication method should be used for IDS monitoring: cellular, Ethernet/IP, POTS, or another method?

Answer: Cellular communication is preferred. No POTS is not being considered.

7. Is there accessible space above the hard-lid ceilings for cable routing, or should contractors anticipate alternative routing methods? We understand that field conditions will also be evaluated during the site visit.

Answer: There is a possibility that the contractor will need to core (drill) through the rammed earth wall. There is a mixture of T-grid above the admin cubicles and hard-lid above the IT closet. Contractor will determine best route.

8. Are there any permits, inspections, licensing requirements, Government-required fees, or similar costs that the contractor should specifically include in its proposal pricing?

Answer: No, permits are not required.
