About this file
This document is an Amendment (0001) to a solicitation for a Pinyon Jay survey, providing clarification on survey methodologies and data collection. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Idaho Region is seeking contractors to conduct a wildlife survey, with specific guidance on survey protocols. Key details include the use of Survey123 and FieldMaps for data collection, confirmation that shapefiles of survey areas will be provided as an attachment, and clarification that plots with previously detected Pinyon Jay breeding behavior can be exempted from subsequent survey visits after initial observations are reported to a wildlife biologist.
The solicitation number is 140L3725Q0090, focusing on a survey of Pinyon Jays in the WRFO (Western Regional Field Office) area. Contractors will be expected to use digital mapping tools and follow specific survey protocols, with the BLM providing necessary geospatial resources to support the data collection effort. The amendment addresses contractor questions about survey methodology, data collection techniques, and reporting requirements, ensuring clear communication of expectations for the wildlife survey project.

1. Will Survey123 and/or FieldMaps be an option for data collection or will paper datasheets need to be used?
Answer: Yes, Survey123/Field Maps will need to be used. We will work with our state GIS team to create a map available for contractors to use.
1. Following protocol, can survey plots that have PIJA previously detected after the first 1 or 2 survey visits be skipped on the third survey visit, or do all plots need to be surveyed three times during the survey period?”
Answer: Once PIJA breeding behavior/nests are observed and reported to the wildlife biologist, subsequent visits are not required.
