About this file
This is a Questions and Answers amendment (Amendment 0002) to a federal fence replacement contract solicitation.
The document addresses four contractor inquiries regarding materials and site access. Regarding materials specifications, the Government approved the use of 2-3/8-inch OD steel pipe for vertical posts in H-braces and corner braces, clarifying that the drawing specification of 2-1/2" STD pipe has an actual OD of 2-3/8". For site access and logistics, contractors are informed that a designated parking area is located at coordinates 45.520704, -116.304394, approximately 0.4 miles by trail from the fence project location. The trail is not suitable for vehicle, ATV, or UTV access, though materials may be stockpiled at the parking area. Trucks are permitted to travel from US Highway 95 to the parking area via a two-track, bumpy, sandy road, with the parking area adjacent to an old, abandoned paved roadbed of the previous US Highway 95 route. Contractors must plan for on-foot material transport from the parking area to the actual fence location.

Amendment 0002
Questions and Answers
Q1: Would the Government approve using 2-3/8-inch OD steel pipe for the vertical posts of the H-braces and corner braces in place of the 2-7/8-inch OD vertical pipe shown on the drawing?
A1: The steel posts called out in the drawing S1.2 are depicted as 2-1/2” STD pipe. The actual OD of this standard is 2-3/8”. The use of steel 2-3/8” vertical pipe is acceptable to the Government.
Q2: mentions that no ATV or UTV access to this fence line so I was curious as to what would be our options?
A2: There is a trail from the designated parking area (latitude and longitude coordinates are 45.520704, -116.304394; also, see project maps) to the fence replacement site, but it is not suitable for a vehicle, ATV, or UTV. Possible options for moving fence materials from the parking area to the fence location might include on foot.
Q3: Is there an area close to the project site that we would be able to walk materials in and out?
A3: There is a designated parking area depicted on project maps. Latitude and longitude coordinates are 45.520704, -116.304394. Stockpiling fence materials at the parking area location is permitted. The approximate distance by trail from the parking area to the fence project location is 0.4 mi.
Q4: Is a truck allowed to move the materials in and out?
A4: A truck is permitted to travel from US Highway 95 to the parking area, along a two-track, bumpy, sandy road. The parking area is immediately adjacent to an old, paved section of road (the old, abandoned roadbed of the previous route of US Highway 95).
