About this file
This document is a detailed technical specification for a Bureau of Land Management (BLM) road and recreation site repair project in eastern Montana. The project involves re-establishing road typical sections, grading and compacting parking areas at five BLM recreation sites: Howery Island, Matthews, Strawberry Hills, Moorhead, and Short Pines OHV. Key technical requirements include providing adequate soil moisture, furnishing and compacting crushed aggregate surfacing, and placing riprap to prevent erosion.
The specifications are divided into multiple divisions covering general requirements, project requirements, earthwork, aggregate and base courses, and materials. They outline precise construction methods, material specifications, and testing requirements for each phase of work. The document specifies compaction methods, aggregate gradation, geosynthetic material usage, and water requirements, with detailed tables defining acceptable material characteristics, sampling frequencies, and testing protocols. Measurement and payment terms are included for each section, with most work to be compensated on a cubic yard or lump sum basis.
