About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for Solicitation Number 140L1725Q0021, specifically addressing two technical clarifications for a BLM Colorado cabana installation project. The first question concerns column finish, with the response confirming that structural columns should remain exposed and not be wrapped with metal trim, as the specified TGIC Poly Powder paint with TruZinc finish provides corrosion prevention. The second question addresses metal sheeting type, with the response specifying that PBR panels are standard, using "Standard Mega-Rib, 3' wide panels w/ 7 3/16" o.c. rib spacing, 1½" profile" for roof paneling.

140L1725Q0021 – Q&A

1. Column Finish: Should the structural columns be wrapped with metal trim, or are they to be left exposed as part of the final construction?

There is no additional trim to be added on to the Mesa base model. If you are looking to get approval for an alternative, it should be an equivalent rectangular steel column. The paint coat specified is a TGIC Poly Powder and has a TruZinc finish to prevent discoloration, and the topcoat for durability, covering this with a wrapped metal trim would negate the benefit of the paint and allow for corrosion. Any approved alternative would need a similar seal.

2. Metal Sheeting Type: Could you confirm whether the government prefers PBR panels or standing seam panels for the roof and/or wall sheeting? The current specifications do not indicate a specific profile As specified, the standard model roof paneling is “Standard Mega-Rib, 3′ wide panels w/ 7 3/16″ o.c. rib, spacing, 1½” profile.” PBR panels are standard.
