About this file

This document is a Supplemental Drawing / Specification Notes file for the Henry Mountain Field Station Replacement project (Contract #140L0625B0010). The notes address multiple technical clarifications and changes for the construction project, including structural steel specifications, wall and roof chord requirements, window and door framing details, and flooring product updates. Key modifications include: HSS5x2.5 distribution chords required on exterior and interior walls, revised door and window framing details using cold-formed members, clarification that HSS columns will be painted, and notification that several flooring products (from Armstrong, Daltile, and Lees) have been discontinued. Additional notes cover overhead door dimensions, a coiling counter door specification, and interior room sign details. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will review and accept alternative flooring products and provide guidance on certain design elements.

HENRY MOUNTAIN FIELD STATION REPLACEMENT: (140L0625B0010)

Supplemental Drawing / Specification Notes

1. Per 32/S505 the HSS5x2-1/2x3/16 continuous distribution chord is shown running the entire length of the roof but the detail on 1/S102 indicates the continuous HSS is only running the length between the HD1,2,3 of the plan view 10/S102, appears to have multiple elevations that the HSS5x2-1/2x3/16 is running or is the detail 1/S102 showing the same HSS found on 32/S505..

Change / Clarification:

The HSS5x2.5 distribution chords are required on the top of all exterior walls and interior bearing and shear walls.

2. Details 26,27/S504 indicate typical channel door and window framing, are in conflict with the

HSS window framing shown on 2/S302 and there are no detail cuts of the window and door framing, a list of locations for the mentioned details.

Change: Drawing S504 has been revised to delete Details 26 and 27 and replace with typical details for the door and window headers and jamb framing using cold formed members.

3. 5/S106 indicates continuous channel. Size of Channel and locations are applied.

Change: The channel section shown on S-106 are for reference to the Pre-engineered metal building system base track and shall be provided by the building manufacturer.

4. 1/S401 shows HSS columns that are potentially exposed mentioned steel AESS.

Change: These columns will be painted and not AESS.

5. The following flooring products for this project have been discontinued according to my reps.

1. V-1 (BOD) - Armstrong, Migrations Biobased Tile - Basis of Design tile is Discontinued.

2. T-1 (Floor - BOD) - Daltile, Cli Pointe (TBD) - 12" x12" is Basis of Design tile is Discontinued.

3. CPT-1 (BOD) - Lees, Play of Light - (TBD) - 24" x 24" - Basis of Design tile is Discontinued.

Change: Flooring products equivalents or replaced products will be reviewed and accepted by

BLM.

6. There are no dimensions shown on the plans for overhead doors.

Change: The design intent for the overhead door was 14’x14’ but the metal building was a delegated design and should be finalized as part of that design with guidance from BLM.

7. There are specs for a coiling counter door but none shown on door schedule.

Clarification: Coiling counter door is not a door to put on schedule but a protective grille for the reception counter and should not be included in door schedule. Sheet AE101A has a section callout for Detail 03/AE511 and wall elevation on 04/AE251. These details have dimensions for the coiling counter door.

8. On Spec section 10 1400, 4.1 shows a list of interior room signs but does not indicate material, design, or size of signs.

Clarification: Size of signs shall be powder coated. Size may very based on the information on the sign. As rule of thumb most signs will be 3” high x 9” wide.

9. On sheet C502 detail 13 doesn’t show what size is the accessible parking sign.

Change: The sign size is the standard size 12” Wide X 18” High.
