About this file

This document contains questions and answers related to a federal construction solicitation for repairing Wildcat Canyon Dam. The solicitation requires all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision to remove an earthen dam and approximately 65,000 cubic yards of accumulated sediment, eliminate advancing erosion by regrading existing incised channels with excavated material, reseed disturbed areas, and use salvaged vegetation and rock for temporary slope stabilization. Key tasks include removing the dam and sediment, regrading channels to reestablish drainage patterns, and implementing erosion controls. The document provides clarification on fencing, vegetation protection, wildlife restrictions, testing responsibilities, water sources, surveying and measurement methods, soil handling, seeding rates, monitoring and maintenance requirements, and coordination regarding utilities. Health and safety protocols are also addressed.

Please see Section 31 0000-EARTHWORK, 3.6 COMPACTION

5. Is the water tank that is on-site available and operational for a water source? Is it hooked to a well? If so, do you know the production rate? No, the water tank on site is not to be used for construction water.

6. How are the earthwork quantities going to be calculated? Simply pre vs. post surfaces? It was mentioned that some of the headcutting had grown since the original topo was performed. Topsoil stripping / replacement will be subsidiary to the Excavation and Grading bid item, correct? Yes, based on GPS survey data per written specifications.

See SECTION 31 0000-EARTHWORK 1.2 Quality Assurance Paragraph A and B.

Yes, Topsoil stripping/replacement will be subsidiary to the Excavation and Grading bid item.

See Section 31 1000-Site Clearing, Part 4 Measurement and Payment

Yes, please see Section 32 9219-Seeding

10. The BLM will provide a GPS model of the finished ground surfaces and structure subgrade. Will the finished surface be of the grading surface or the final Roughness Treatment surface with the ridges and furrows and topsoil replaced?

BLM will provide a GPS model of the finished grading surface. The Roughness treatment will be constructed on top of the finish grade the ridges and furrows are not depicted in the GPS model BLM will provide. Please see SECTION 31 0000-
