About this file
This is an Amendment to a Request for Quote (RFQ) issued by the USGS OAG Sacramento Acquisition Branch for a thermal camera system. The amendment number is 0001, effective September 11, 2026, with an amendment/modification number reference of 140G0326Q0219.
The RFQ requests quotes for a thermal camera equivalent to a FLIR T540 bundle, specifically configured with a 14-degree lens. The camera must meet an approximately 40 millikelvin thermal sensitivity threshold while the 14-degree lens is installed. The amendment clarifies that the requested bundle includes the FLIR T540 camera with only the 14-degree lens as standard equipment—no additional separate lenses are included. The Government requires the 14-degree lens for its field of view and adaptability for distant or small targets for volcano monitoring applications. The amendment serves solely to answer submitted questions, with no additional questions permitted. The quote deadline remains September 18, 2026, at 1500 PST. Contractors must sign and return one copy of this amendment to the issuing office. The contract is administered by the USGS OAG Sacramento Acquisition Branch located at Modoc Hall, CSUS, 3020 State University Drive East, Sacramento, CA 95819-6027.

Q: 1. Must the approximately 40 millikelvin threshold be met while the 14 degree lens is installed?
A: Yes, but that is standard. Since this camera comes with the 14 degree lens. There are no other separate lenses.
Q. Does the Government intend a T540 Science camera with its standard lens plus a separate T199588 14 degree lens and case?
A: No, we have requested that model of camera with the 14 degree lens.
Q. If the standard lens meets approximately 40 millikelvin but the 14 degree lens has a different published value, would that configuration satisfy the requirement? On average, the primary microwave relay nodes are approximately 60 miles apart. The contractor/vendor should expect to drive 1 – 2 hours between sites due to the slow speeds required to safely traverse unimproved mountain roads.
A: There is no standard lens in addition to the 14 degree lens in this requested bundle. We require the 14 degree lens for its field of view and adaptability for distant or small targets.
Requirements for volcano monitoring.
