About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) amendment to a federal solicitation for the Installation and Programming of Asentria SiteBoss 550 Remote Site Managers at USGS Microwave Radio Relay Sites. The solicitation (RFQ 140G0325Q0156) is set aside for small businesses in the NAICS code 541519 with a $34 million size standard, covering computer-related services for the US Geological Survey. The period of performance is estimated from 09/01/2025 to 08/31/2026, with award based on a tradeoff method.

The Q&A document addresses specific technical questions about the solicitation, primarily focusing on removing certain certification requirements for the Asentria SiteBoss equipment. Key modifications include eliminating the need for contractors to submit certified documentation as an authorized distributor and removing requirements for OEM certification of technicians. The document also confirms details about existing SiteBoss units at various relay sites, including Geyser Peak, Vollmer Peak, Moffett Field, School Peak, Palo Escrito, Williams Hill, and Hog Canyon. Responses are due by 07/21/2025 at 1500 PST, and contractors must submit specific documentation including a signed SF 18 form, fixed-price quote, technical qualifications, and SAM registration.

1. SOW Section III B. 2. “The Contractor shall submit certified documentation that they are an authorized distributor and service organization for the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM Asentria does have resellers of their equipment but primarily sells their equipment direct purchase. All previous contracts we have executed using Asentria products have been purchased direct from Asentria.” Will DOI consider removing certified documentation requirement as an “authorized distributor and service organization” for Asentria? We have purchased Asentria equipment direct for many other DOD and federal projects in the past and are experienced at installing and configuring these units.

A: Yes, that requirement can be removed. It was modified “boiler plate” language from an example document.

2. SOW Section III B. 3. “The Contractor shall certify that any and all technicians assigned to the project are fully trained, qualified, and certified by the OEM on the engineering, installation, operation, and testing of the Asentria SiteBoss 550. The Contractor shall provide formal written evidence of current OEM certification(s) for the installer(s) as a part of the submittal.”

Asentria does have levels of technical training and integration support for specific customer applications or solutions, however, they do NOT have a “certification” process/paper for engineering, installation, operation, and testing of Asentria products. All previous contracts we have executed using Asentria Engineering, Installation, Integration, testing, and post-installation support/sustainment have not required Asentria technical support. Since no "certification" exists please consider removing certified documentation requirement as being “certified by the OEM” as well as the requirement to provide “formal written evidence of current OEM certification(s)” does not exist?

A: Yes, that requirement can be removed. It was modified “boiler plate” language from an example document.

3. Please confirm that the Asentria SiteBoss S550 units being provided by the USGS are currently deployed at each site and are not being purchase/delivered new (which would be the newer S550A units)

A: All SiteBoss units have been purchased by the USGS and are (mostly) installed at the relay sites. See comments below for site-specific details.

4. Please confirm that the Asentria SiteBoss units being provided by the USGS are S550-6 not S550-2 units. The units are S550-6.
