About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for a federal contract opportunity for media production during a marine research cruise. The solicitation (140G0325Q0122) involves a documentary-style videography and photography project aboard the Research Vessel Atlantis from June 13-July 4, 2025, focusing on deep sea exploration. Key details include: one contractor is permitted, lodging will be aboard the vessel, the ship operates 24/7, and the contractor must optimize filming around ship operations. Post-production deliverables include a short X<10 minute overview video and rough cut of video at the cruise's conclusion.

Specific requirements include underwater filming preparedness, potential submersible camera use, pressure-regulated underwater vehicles, and scientific sample documentation with provided scales. The contractor is responsible for travel to Dutch Harbor, personal liability insurance, and managing on-camera interviews. Access to power, Wi-Fi, and satellite communication will be provided, though filming areas will have some safety-related restrictions. Payment will be made upon complete project completion, with USGS working collaboratively but deferring to the contractor's expertise in content development.
