Questions and Answers
Question 1: The Quote Schedule (Attachment 3) has a quantity of 110 acres for ‘Invasive weed treatment’, but the Performance Work Statement (Attachment 2, p. 7) states that “5.1. The contractor shall provide services for treatment of invasive non-native weed species up to a 500 foot buffer (110 acres) from the northern boundary of the lower Otay Lakes parcel of the SDNWR and adjacent properties. Additionally, the contractor shall implement the same treatment within all dozer lines (10 acres) and habitat rehabilitation mitigation areas (2.1 acres) on SDNWR.”. That would total 122.1 acres.
Should Attachment 3 be changed to state a quantity of 122.1 acres for ‘Invasive weed treatment’, or is 110 acres correct for quotes?
Answer 1: The 122.1 acres is the more correct number to encapsulate all areas that need to be treated. (Attachment 3-Quote Schedule_rev)
Question 2: Is the size (# of acres) of the area to be planted with native seed the 2.1 acres given for habitat rehabilitation mitigation areas? If not, what is the number of acres expected to be planted with native seed?
Answer 2: Yes, area to be rehabilitated is the 2.1 acres of the habitat rehabilitation mitigation area, also shown as the purple polygon areas on the included map figures.
Question 3: Are any of the species expected to be included in the native seed mix already known by the Refuge Manager? If so, what are they?
Answer 3: Given the heterogeneity of the habitat across all closed road rehabilitation areas, a generalized seed mix used for the site in its initial restoration is shown below but a final approval proposed seed mix tailored to each site will be determined in consultation with the refuge manager.
