About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document for Solicitation 140FS125Q0032, regarding salt cedar tree removal at the Kern National Wildlife Refuge in California for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The document addresses two contractor questions about the project area mapping and dimensions. In response to requests for aerial maps showing tree locations ("dark spots"), FWS provided an additional map with a transparent layer to visualize the trees, emphasizing that the contract is based on net acres of salt cedar removed rather than gross project area. A second question about the dimensions of the white area of performance was addressed by noting that the provided map includes a 1000ft reference scale. The document indicates that vehicles cannot be used on-site and all work must be performed on foot.

Solicitation 140FS125Q0032
Sawyer Crew to Remove Salt Cedar Trees
FWS Kern NWR CA
Additional Questions and FWS Responses (Bolded)
1. Aerial Maps & Dark Spot Photos – Based on what was mentioned during the site visit, would it be possible to provide aerial maps and photos highlighting the dark spots where the trees are located? This would greatly help us in calculating walk time and distance, given that vehicles cannot be used on-site, and all work must be done on foot. Attached is another map of the project area with a transparent layer to see the trees. This project is for net acres of salt cedar removed as stated on the statement of work, not the gross acres of the project area layer.
2. White Area of Performance Dimensions – On the previously provided map, could you please clarify the approximate length and width of the designated white area of performance?
Having this information will assist us in better estimating labor and logistics. The above map has a 1000ft reference.
