CONTRACTOR QUESTIONS & GOVERNMENT RESPONSES
AMENDMENT 0004
A. The purpose of this amendment is to respond to contractor questions.
B. The following Contractor Questions, Government Responses are provided for contractor use.
1. CONTRACTOR: Does the existing grate at the weir need to be hot-dip galvanized?
Please reference 3.3 Part A of Galvanizing (pg. 055000-6). Plans show to protect bar grating; however, Section 3.3 of the Spec shows steel to be thoroughly cleaned of rust and scale, but does not indicate that it indeed needs to be galvanized. Please clarify.
2. GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: The existing bar grating above the weir shall be protected and re-installed at project completion but does not need to be hot-dip galvanized.
3. CONTRACTOR: Please confirm if walls of the pre-engineered fabric structure are to be a minimum of 11’? What is the expected longevity of the fabric for the structure as well as the main intended use of the structure to incorporate into the proposed engineering?
4. GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: The fabric structure dimensions are to be roughly 60' long x 8' wide x 11' high. The walls of the pre-engineered fabric structure may be higher than the 11 feet indicated in Section 131310 if this matches a standard product line offered by a supplier. The expected fabric life shall be 15 to 20 years as indicated in Section 131310-2.2B. The main intended use of the structure is shade for the settling basin and protection from windblown debris.
C. Attachment 03, Drawings are included in this amendment, to correct a software error, where the file did not transmit or upload to the FedConnect system. No change to the drawings.
D. Offerors are reminded of the product substitution requirements under specification section
012500 SUBSTITUTION PROCEDURES.
E. The proposal due date and time is extended to Friday, 7 February, 17:00 PM Local MT (email).
F. Offerors are reminded to review and acknowledge all amendments as part of their proposal.
