CONTRACTOR QUESTIONS & GOVERNMENT RESPONSES
AMENDMENT 0001
A. The purpose of this amendment is to respond to contractor questions and provide information regarding the concrete mix.
B. The following Contractor Questions, Government Responses are provided for contractor use.
1. CONTRACTOR: “Unfortunately Type V cement is not available in this market. I’m assuming it was specified because of concerns regarding sulfate protection. Type I/II cement in combination with a minimum of 20% Class F fly ash offers the same protection against sulfate attack as Type V, and is commonly used as a substitute.
That is what we use in all of our mixes and it is acceptable to the agencies that we work with. Also most of our high sack content mixes are designed with more than one water reducing agent for durability and workability which we would rather not change. Please let us know your response.”
2. GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: Type II cement is acceptable in accordance with Section 033150. Fly ash may be used with the maximum percent as defined in
ACI 318.
3. GOVERNMENT COMMENT: Regarding the 40 foot section of above ground 6” AC drain line out: See drawings sheet C2, Demolition Plan; the contract drawings require this inlet and section of pipe be protected in place. No change to drawings or specifications.
C. The proposal due date and time is extended to Monday, 3 February, 17:00 PM Local MT (email).
D. Offerors are reminded to review and acknowledge all amendments as part of their proposal.
E. All other terms and conditions remain unchanged.
