About this file

This document contains field notes and photographs from environmental remediation activities at a former hospital and school site in Kotzebue, Alaska. Soil excavation uncovered buried drums, pipes, charred debris, and asbestos-containing materials. Impacted soils were segregated and stored temporarily onsite before being incorporated into an onsite landfarm for bioremediation. Groundwater monitoring wells showed presence of free product. Upon completion, the excavation was backfilled and the site restored. The related federal contract opportunity is for additional environmental remediation services in Kotzebue under Solicitation 140A0524Q0001 from the Department of the Interior Bureau of Indian Affairs and Indian Education.
