About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document addressing clarifications on an office desktop computer procurement specification. The document clarifies processor requirements, form factor, and operating system specifications for Attachment 1, Line Item 0001.
Regarding the processor specification, offerors may propose a processor of equal or greater performance that meets the specifications. The government specified the Intel Xeon 676x processor; however, if an exact match is not commercially available, alternative Xeon processors including W-series variants of equal or greater performance are acceptable. The solicitation is for an office desktop computer, not a rackmount or tower configuration. The government will install a Windows operating system upon receipt of the hardware, though the government acknowledges that offerors may test systems with other operating systems such as Ubuntu Linux LTS.

Questions and Answers
1. Processor: Attachment 1, Line Item 0001, item 1 reads "Intel Xeon 676X processor".
We cannot match that designation to a current Intel part number. Please confirm the intended processor model (for example, Intel Xeon 6 6767P) or state the minimum core count and clock so equivalent processors can be offered.
Answer: offeror may propose a processor of equal or greater performance that meets the specifications
2. Form factor: Rackmount or Tower?
Answer: This solicitation is for an office desktop computer
3. Operating system: Attachment 1, Section VI states that ITAC will install the operating system. Note that we will test the system with Ubuntu Linux LTS.
Answer: NIST will install windows operating system upon receipt of the hardware. We acknowledge that you might be testing with other OS.
4. The exact Intel processor model/SKU intended by "Xeon 676X" (or confirm whether this refers generally to the Intel Xeon 6 processor family)
Answer: We specified the Intel Xeon 676x not any processor in the Intel 600 series which can be found on intel’s website.
5. Whether an offeror may propose a Xeon W-series or other Xeon processor of equal or greater performance if an exact match to "676X" is not commercially available as a workstation-class part, given the Xeon 6 platform's very recent market release.
Answer: offeror may propose a processor of equal or greater performance that meets the specifications
