About this file

This is Amendment 0001 to a Request for Quote (RFQ) issued by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), a division of the Department of Commerce. The amendment addresses government responses to contractor questions regarding the solicitation for a Tunable Laser System with Reference Wavemeter for Wavelength Scanning and Locking (RFQ Number: 1333ND26QNB630190).

The amendment clarifies a technical requirement regarding the 5 MHz wavelength measurement resolution specification for the wavemeter. In response to Q1, the government confirmed that achieving the 5 MHz resolution through averaging of measurements (approximately 50 samples) with a measurement time of approximately 5 milliseconds is acceptable, rather than requiring single-shot 5 MHz resolution. The response deadline for this solicitation has been extended from the original date to 05/29/26 at 4:00 PM Eastern Time.

Amendment 0001 Request for Quote Number: 1333ND26QNB630190 Requirement: Tunable Laser with Reference Wavemeter for Wavelength Scanning and Locking Purpose: Provide government response to submitted questions and extend the response deadline Date: 05/26/26

Questions Q1: Clarity is needed for the 5 MHz (or better) wavelength measurement resolution requirement. A wavemeter provides 10 MHz native resolution. However, by averaging measurements (for example, ~50 samples), the system can achieve an effective resolution of approximately 5 MHz, with a corresponding measurement time of about 5 ms. Please advise whether achieving 5 MHz performance via averaging would be acceptable, or if 5 MHz single‑shot resolution is an absolute requirement.

R1: Such averaging is acceptable

Response Deadline Extension The response deadline is hereby extended to 05/29/26, 4:00pm ET.
