About this file

This document provides an amendment to a solicitation for fire protection systems inspection, testing, maintenance, repair and impairment coordinator services at multiple facilities of the National Institute of Standards and Technology. The amendment includes supplemental questions and answers and revises an appendix detailing the automatic sprinkler systems and common components at each covered building. Appendix B summarizes the sprinkler riser locations, areas protected, and system types for various NIST buildings, along with notes on fire pumps, standpipes, backflow preventers and device counts. It also provides an underground water supply map showing hydrant locations.

Q13. Page 13; Section III.A.2.f. – Common Components and Valves

• Will NIST provide a device count for each Water-Based Fire Protection Systems, i.e. sectionals;

including waterflow alarm device counts, supervisory valve device counts, hose cabinet counts, fire pump counts, etc.?

• Will NIST also provide a count of hydrants and location of hydrants?

A13. Appendix B, Water-Based Fire Protection Systems, has been modified to summarize information regarding Common Components and Valves of the automatic sprinkler systems for each building that is provided with automatic sprinkler protection. All new information is shown in Red. New information is formatted by fire alarm panel Node. Please reference the water flow and valve tamper counts provided by fire alarm Node in Appendix A (fire alarm).

A site map of underground water supply is provided that identifies hydrant count and locations along with a hydrant list.
