About this file
This is a Statement of Work for landscape maintenance services at the National Weather Service UNR Weather Forecast Office located at 300 E. Signal Drive, Rapid City, South Dakota 57701, comprising 1.23 acres total.
The contractor shall provide all personnel, tools, equipment, materials, and supervision for grounds care including mowing all grassy areas inside and outside the fence, string trimming around buildings and equipment, raking debris as needed, sweeping or blowing clippings from parking areas and sidewalks, removing weeds from mulch-covered areas, and edging along sidewalks. Clippings may remain on the lawn if no visible clumps are present 24 hours after mowing; otherwise, the contractor must collect and remove them. Additional requirements include spring and fall pruning and trimming of shrubs; a three-phase fertilization and treatment schedule (spring pre-emergent and broadleaf weed control, summer insect control including grubs, and fall broadleaf weed control and micronutrients); and activation and repair of the sprinkler system by mid-May, coordinated with the Meteorologist in Charge to prevent unnecessary utility fees. Local WFO maintenance staff will handle sprinkler winterization. The contractor bills monthly in arrears and shall designate a local representative if remotely located. The government reserves the right to waive or request lawn care as needed. The contractor must sign in on the security log upon arrival, ensure all debris is cleaned up before departure, prevent tools and hoses from becoming trip hazards, follow all Federal, State, and Local regulations, and is responsible for remediation of any chemical spills caused by contractor operations. The MIC, David Hintz (605-341-9271), serves as the local government contact point and has authority to inspect work and notify the contractor of any sub-standard items. Additional work outside the SOW scope requires advance approval and contract modification, with compensation at an hourly rate to be included in the contract.
