1305M326Q0184 Carolina, PR NWS WFO Manhole Covers/Frames and Security Gate Replacements Questions and Answers Q1 Do you have any existing dimensions, specifications, drawings, or records for the current manhole covers and frames? The SOW requires the new covers to match the existing sizes, so any available measurements or details would help us prepare an accurate quotation.
A1 Attached is an image of the cover with measurements added.
The manhole cover is 37 inches in diameter, and the ring it sits on is approximately 36 inches.
| Q2: | What are the required dimensions (clear opening, frame size, and cover size) of each of the three manhole covers? |
| A2: | Clear opening is 36”. All mannholes appear to be the same dimension this must be verify during the site visit. |
| Q3: | What is the required load rating or traffic classification (e.g., AASHTO H-20, HS-20, ASTM, or equivalent)? |
| A3: | One of the manholes is on the parking access road should be H20 / HS20 (Standard Heavy Duty). |
| Q4: | Are there any requirements regarding the material, coating, or finish of the replacement covers and frames? |
| A4: | Rust resistant |
| Q5: | Are there any drawings or additional details available beyond the photographs included with the solicitation? |
| A5: | There are no drawings available. You will have the opportunity to measure and provide alternatives. |
| Q6: | Could you let us know if the pedestrian access gate will also be replaced? |
| A6: | Yes. It has been determined that the pedestrian access gate also needs to be replaced. it is currently inoperable due to rust. During our recent inspections, we also noticed that corrosion has broken the lower member of the gate's resting post, creating a large hole in the 4x4 post. This post is part of the pedestrian gate and is the pole where the gate will rest when closed; this will need to be replaced as well. |
Additionally, we would like to include painting the entrance fence (approximately 22 extra linear feet) in the scope. It should be painted the same color as the gate.
The Statement of Work will be updated to reflect this.
