About this file
This document is a product data sheet and submittal section for USG Donn Wood-Cor access flooring system designed for computer room applications at the Weather Forecast Office. The Wood-Cor system features a steel-encased particleboard core panel supported by pedestal or stringer understructure, providing strength under concentrated loads, stability against rolling loads, ready access to the plenum cavity, and effective air control. Panels offer a concentrated load rating of 1,000 lbs and rolling load rating of 600 lbs, with three understructure options: Rigid Grid (recommended for most applications with floor heights up to 30 inches), Snap-Loc (for applications with floor heights up to 18 inches), and Freestanding systems (for limited loading and floor heights up to 12 inches). The system meets recognized conductivity standards for computer and electronics manufacturers and includes mechanically-locked edge trim with mitered corners available in black or brown colors.
The document includes comprehensive technical specifications, performance data, High Pressure Laminate (HPL) color selections (Beigetone, Greytone, Whitetone, Beige Matrix, and Grey/Beige Kontrac options), maintenance and cleaning requirements, NEMA properties and typical performance values, detail drawings, and multiple independent test reports from Penniman & Browne, Inc. and Herron Testing Laboratories confirming the system's structural performance including concentrated load, rolling load, ultimate load, impact, uniform load, pedestal base strength, and seismic analysis compliance with 1994 UBC standards for Seismic Zone 2B.

Stringers support pane their perimeter, are mec fastened to pedestals and covered with conductive vinyl eliminate noise of metal touching metal while also providing an air seal
Snap.Loc T" .-
• Pedestal cap allows stringers to connect without fasteners by snapping into position on the lanced tabs of the die-cast alu-minum pedestal heads
• "Spring-action" connection allows stringers to be removed easily and quickly without tools
• Recommended for less severe concentrated and rolling-load applicallOns where floor heights are 18"and under.
• Roll-formed 18-gauge galvanized steel construction of stringers in 2' lengths will withstand 200 lb.

M.1ntenance Wax, oil or other coatings should not be applied. In facl, the anti-static properties of the floor are best preserved if use of such coatings is tlvoided.
10 ensure that the floor is kept completely clean, we strongly recommend that mops and cleaning equipment be dedicated for exclusive use on these areas If equipment is used on other floors, water-soluble wax particles or other foreign materials may cause static problems.
Wax and dirt can also be tracked in from adjacent areas, particularly during and after installation.
Cleaning Use a dry mop or vacuum cleaner to remove dust General cleaning as well as for marks or stains. apply an all-purpose spray cleaner such as
Texize Fantastik8 or Spartan SD.20T~ that is readily available and easy to use These products may be sprayed onto the HPL surface and wiped-off with a clean cloth. (

Identification A standard Conn Wood-CorCR) woodcore access floor panel, reference drawing number A-2-1000. Panel selected was full siz8 with 1/16~ BPL covering.
The .ample was 8elected at random from a .tandard production skid of panels. The panel was tested for visible structural damage under impact conditions in accordance with laboratory procedures.
The panel was 8upported on 12~ rigid grid standard under8tructure .ystem. The impact load was then applied to the test specimen by dropping a sandbag on the center of the panel.
The panel was 8ubjected to an impact load of 150 pound8 from a 12~ height.
~••t aelult.
No evidence of damage to the panel.

Test Procedure - A Donn WC 1000 panel was mounted and supported on rigid grid understructure and a load was applied to tbe panel via hydraulic cylinder and 24" square steel plate with 1" bearing block at each corner. The load was thus distributed equally to the center of each quadrant. The load was measured by Morehouse Ring Force Gauge #50554 calibrated 12/19/91.
The panel was first loaded to the uniform design load of 250 Ibs/ft2 to settle the system. After unloading, a preload of 25 lbs/ft2 was applied and both the load cell and dial indicator were zeroed. The panel was then loaded in 50 Ibs/ft2 increments to design load and deflections were read to .001" with standard dial indicator as follows.

Axial Compressive Load Tests
Ten samples of each of the following three (3) types of pedestal ba~e~ were te~tec:
, B)
A I" dia. tube resistance welded to a 4" x 4" x 1/8" base plate, at a 3D" finished floor height. ~
A 1-1/8" dia. tube swaged to 1", fillet welded to a 5" x 5" X 1/8" base plate. at a 36" finished floor height.
C) A 1-1/2" dia. tube swaged to a I". fillet welded to a 6" x 6" x 3/16" base plate, at a 36" finished floor height.
The above standard pedestal assemblies were tested for compressive load strength in a Tinius Olsen Super "L" Testing Machine. Load was applied and increased steadily to a 5000 pound proof load. at which point, the machine was stopped and the pedestal was visually inspected while supporting the load.
There was no indication of yielding. and no damage to and/or failure of. the pedestal tubes.
At this point. the loading was continued and the yield strength and ultimate strength of the samples were recorded.
