About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers addendum for Bid 26-0626E5-029, issued by Buffalo Public Schools (BPS) in New York, regarding security officer training services. The contract opportunity involves annual training for approximately 125 BPS security officers who support safety and security across Buffalo Public School buildings, including high schools and elementary schools. Bidders may submit proposals for individual training components independently rather than being required to provide all aspects of training through a single vendor. The RFP clarifies that training can be conducted at various BPS locations, typically the Waterfront or West Hertel facilities, and that online training delivery is acceptable as an alternative to in-person classroom instruction.

Key clarifications provided in the Q&A address training venue approval requirements, training delivery methods, and vendor structure. BPS confirmed that DCJS (Division of Criminal Justice Services) approval of training classrooms is not required prior to contract award, though this remains the responsibility of the contract awardee. The agency explicitly approved online training as an acceptable delivery method, noting that vendors with established online security training programs may participate. Bidders are permitted to propose individual training components separately, allowing for flexible vendor arrangements rather than mandating a single comprehensive provider.

SECURITY OFFICER TRAINING

QUSTIONS AND ANSWERS

Q1 – I am interested in submiƫng a bid proposal package for this contract. Has DCJS approved the designated training classroom, because the training cannot be conducted at a site unless that site has been approved? If not, this is something the contract awardee will need to do before the training can begin.

A1 – BPS Security has never ben informed that DCJS needs to approve of our training room. Training is done at various BPS locaƟons – typically Waterfront or West Hertel.

Q2 – We were the first security guard school approved by NYS DCJS to do all the security training Online and we now do more than any other school in NY State. We have 6,500 Five Star Google reviews for our training and customer service. We are a CUNY, DOL, DOE and HRA approved vendor. We already do this for Buffalo Community College.

Can we do these classes Online for your school?

A2 – Online classes would be acceptable.

Q3 –Do you require a single vendor to provide all aspects of this training?
