Quesons & Answers
12FPC124Q0009
6 MAR 24
Q: Will contractors be allowed to inspect the parcels of land before subming a bid?
A: Yes they can look at them 1st on site. We recently had the landowners submit something in wring that the contractors can look at them in person on site.
Q: Are all 10 parcels located near each other? Regardless of their proximity, could you please provide their addresses?
A: There is a map in the packet that shows the general locaons for the enre County, so that should give the contractor the answer they wanted on how far apart they are. The township and secon, along with adjacent or neighboring roads, is listed on the individual map of each parcel. Not all the sites will have a physical address as there isn’t a structure on all of these sites.
Q: Incumbent Contractor: If applicable, could you please share the name of the company currently holding the contract?
A: There is not someone currently doing work on these parcels. This is a new contract. So there isn’t a previous contractor, a previous contract number, or a previous value.
Q: Contract Number: What is the contract number for the exisng or previous tree removal work on these easements?
A: There is not someone currently doing work on these parcels. This is a new contract. So there isn’t a previous contractor, a previous contract number, or a previous value.
Q: Contract Value: Could you provide the total value of the current or previous contract?
A: There is not someone currently doing work on these parcels. This is a new contract. So there isn’t a previous contractor, a previous contract number, or a previous value.
Q: We would like to know if this is a brand new contract OR if there is (was) an incumbent performing these services.
A: There is not someone currently doing work on these parcels. This is a new contract. So there isn’t a previous contractor, a previous contract number, or a previous value.
Q: If not brand new, could you please provide the current / previous contract number?
A: There is not someone currently doing work on these parcels. This is a new contract. So there isn’t a previous contractor, a previous contract number, or a previous value.
Q: Will there be a site visit for the solicitaon in the subject line?
A: There is no scheduled site visit. You can go visit each of the sites to complete your bid.
Q: Access: What is the accessibility of the sites? Are there any restricons or obstacles that could affect the work such as power lines, buildings, or water bodies?
A: All sites are accessible by a vehicle. There should be no issue with geng equipment on site. Sites are accessible either via an approach off a road or via a field road.
Q: Equipment: What specific equipment is allowed or recommended for use on the sites? Are there any restricons on the types of machinery that can be used?
A: Equipment typically consists of a large skid steer with a forestry or fecon head or equivalent to grind up trees. That type of implement should be large enough to tackle 95% or more of the woody species on easement. Heavier equipment may be used as the contractor sees fit, however larger equipment may cause issues with maintaining the exisng herbaceous vegetaon on easement. Contractor is responsible for repairing damage to the easement.
Q: Disposal: What are the requirements for the disposal of the cut trees and brush? Is there a designated area for disposal, or will the waste need to be transported off-site?
A: Disposal is generally taken care of by using a fecon type head – trees are chipped in place as part of the cung operaon. In instances where different equipment will be used and the trees will be sheared and piled, trees must be either burned or removed from the site. Disposal, regardless of method chosen, is the responsibility of the contractor.
Q: Herbicides: The document menons the use of a herbicide (Triclopyr or equivalent). Will the contractor be responsible for sourcing this, or will it be provided?
A: Contractor is responsible for sourcing the chemical.
Q: Re-seeding: The contractor is responsible for re-seeding any surface vegetaon destroyed during the brush control process. What specific species of plants are required for the re-seeding?
A: Big Bluestem @ 3#/ac, Side oats Grama @ 5# ac, Switchgrass @ 2#/ac, Western wheatgrass @ 7#/ac & Canada Wildrye @ 7#/ac. All seed is listed in PLS. Seed must be broadcast and drug or drilled.
Q: Permits: Are there any specific permits required to perform the work? If so, who is responsible for obtaining these permits?
A: No permits are required for cung trees. If stumpage is going to be piled and burned a burning permit will be required and is the responsibility of the contractor.
Q: Safety Measures: What specific safety measures or precauons are required during the execuon of the project?
A: Work site safety is governed by OSHA rules and is the responsibility of the contractor.
Q: Tree Sizes: What are the sizes (height and diameter) of the trees to be removed? The size of the trees can significantly impact the me, equipment, and methods needed for removal.
A: Tree size & density is highly variable on the sites. On site appraisal of the work to be completed is required to provide an accurate bid.
Q: Locaon Addresses: What are the specific addresses of each locaon? This informaon is crucial for esmang travel and transportaon costs.
A: All sites are within 25 miles of the city of Glenwood, MN. Specific Townships and Secons are listed on the maps for each project. All 10 sites are located on the 1st map in the packet to show relave distance from each other. Individual secons are shown in blue- each secon is 1 square mile.
