Questions
1. Please confirm if the Forest Service will salvage all materials, equipment, appliances (TVs, washers/dryers/sinks, refrigerators, etc.) and supplies (including any hazardous materials: paint cans) stored within each building planned for demolition prior to construction activities. If so, when will this occur at each of the 3 sites?
A: Contractor should plan to remove all appliances, furnishings, supplies, and miscellaneous debris. It is possible that some of these items may be removed prior to the start of work.
2. Oak Grove Fire Station/Engine Garage: Due to the age of this building (1938) has the
Forest Service conducted a historical survey of the property, and (if so) are there any special considerations/approvals that need to be obtained prior to demolition?
A: Yes, historical survey has been conducted. The Forest Service has all clearances to demolish this building.
3. Are there any special biological and/or archeological considerations or requirements at any of the 3 sites for this project?
A: The biological considerations are listed in Specifications 01 41 00 Regulatory Requirements, 01 57 24 Stormwater Pollution Control, and 02 41 00 Demolition, 31 20 00 Earth Moving, and contract documents. The Archaeological considerations are listed in Specifications 01 11 00 Summary of Work, 01 14 00 Work Restrictions, 02 41 00 Demolition, and contract documents.
4. El Cariso Hot Shot Camp Barracks Trailers: Is the concrete ramp way (at front edge of wooden ramp) to be demolished and removed?
A: No concrete is to be removed at El Cariso Hot Shot Camp.
5. El Cariso Hot Shot Camp Barracks Trailers: If existing trees are obstructing construction activities, can they be removed? If so, are they required to be replaced?
A: All existing trees are to remain. Contractor shall work around existing trees. The Contracting Officers Representative (COR) can discuss with the Contractor on site if any limbs or bushes can be cut/trimmed and if agreed by the COR a written notice will be furnished to the Contractor. See Specifications 02 41 00 Demolition.
6. Silverado Fire Station Barracks Trailer: Please clarify if the propane tank and associated piping has been removed. It was not evident during the site walk
A: Yes, the propane and HVAC have been disconnected. Contract requires removal and disposal. Removal of propane tank will be coordinated by the Forest Service.
7. Silverado Fire Station Barracks Trailer: Please clarify if the metal walkways/ramps are to be demolished and removed
A: The metal walkway/ramp is to be demolished and removed.
8. Is water available for use during construction activities (dust control, soil compaction, other) at each of the three (3) sites?
A: For water use see Specification Section 01 14 00 Work Restrictions. Pg. 6 of Attachment 1 Specifications.
9. At El Cariso, one of the Mobile homes/trailers had a concrete perimeter footing on one side underneath, does that get removed?
A: Same as question 4. No concrete is to be removed at El Cariso Hot Shot Camp.
10. Will all sites be ready at the same time, or will they be phased separately which will require us to do multiple mobilizations?
A: Yes, all sites will be ready before NTP is issued. Please also note that project superintendent will need to be on site at all times when any work is being performed.
